How pdf metadata remover works
PDF properties can reveal the document author, application, title and creation date. The PDF cleaner removes the document information dictionary and supported XMP metadata streams, then saves a new copy. It does not redact page content, annotations, attachments, forms, or signatures. Encrypted PDFs are rejected rather than bypassed.
Good to know
Cleaning changes the PDF file and may invalidate digital signatures. If sensitive information appears on a page or in an annotation, use a dedicated redaction tool.
